Throughout 2023, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Macon, the city where soul lives.

As we stand on the precipice of Macon’s third century we reflect on our past, remain rooted in the present, and imagine a future blossoming with potential for all.

The Macon-Bibb County Bicentennial Celebration is a year-long opportunity to come together as a community to both honor and acknowledge our history, while celebrating the bounty of talent and potential here, now.

You are invited – whether you live near or far away – to be a part of this celebration of Macon’s 200th anniversary. Plan now to join us, here.

Let your soul ignite, and carry that fire back with you into the wider world.

We are Macon-Bibb,
and we are just getting started…

We are Macon-Bibb, and we are just getting started…

1) About Macon200

As we reflect upon our first two centuries, we have a unique opportunity to imagine our next one hundred years and beyond. Our Bicentennial is a time to look back, learn, remain rooted, and step into our third century with clarity, intention, and purpose. Come and see, be seen, and imagine with us.

2) Our History

Macon-Bibb’s story began on the banks of the Ocmulgee River 17,000 years ago. For good reason, it remains one of the oldest continuously populated pieces of land on our continent. Its red clay earth remains fertile ground for creative souls. We celebrate 200 years but have only begun to recognize our full potential.

3) Imagining Our Next 100 Years

As we stand on the edge of our next one hundred years, take a moment to imagine what the future can be and consider your part. How will you play a role in Macon-Bibb’s future? What change would you like to see, and how can you “Be the Change?”
